Greetings! Quite a few poetry events coming up in the next few months. Here’s the first:
Sunday 24th April: The Poetry Place, West Wilts Radio, 3-4pm
This is what Dawn Gorman of The Poetry Place says about the event:
Need a poetry pick-me-up? Then come April 24th, this could well do the job nicely – nine fabulous writers giving you their very best words on The Poetry Place. You can hear the episode online at 3pm on the day, or anytime later via Play Again, to catch our guest poets Susan Jordan and Kay Syrad, with additional readings from Rosie Jackson, Christine Macfarlane, Maggie Mackay, Miles Salter, Moira Andrew, Pratibha Castle and my co-producer, Peter O’Grady.
Susan writes both poetry and fiction and has published two full-length collections, ‘A House of Empty Rooms’ (Indigo Dreams, 2017) and ‘I never think dark will come’ (Oversteps Books, 2021), plus a pamphlet, Last of the Line (Maytree Press, 2021), which won the Maytree Press Three Trees Portfolio Award 2021.
Kay’s third solo collection, ‘What is near’ (Cinnamon Press, 2021), addresses the eco-crisis with an ‘impassioned fusion of elegy, activism and wonder’. She was Poetry Editor of Envoi from 2014-2020, and collaborates widely, including with environmental artist Chris Drury, and with artist-performer Clare Whistler as the composite eco-poet kin’d & kind, who most recently published ‘Wild Correspondings: an eco-poetry source book’.
Thanks as always to the team at West Wilts Radio for getting the show out there, to Joe Venables for the photo wizardry, and to Martin Malone for our brilliant theme tune.
